Skyline Board Sets Calendar For Next School Year

The Skyline R-2 Board met in regular session on Thursday, April 20, with six members present. The consent agenda items were discussed and approved.

On April 5, the board met for a short reorganizational meeting. Wroy Roworth was elected president; Tim Scrivner, vice president; James Brixey, treasurer; and Dana Smith remained secretary of the board. Wes Woods and Brian Sherrill were sworn in as new members.

In old business, the board reviewed the proposed 2012-2013 school calendar Skyline will start school on Aug. 15, 2012, with a tentative ending date of May 14, 2013.

In new business, the board heard a short report from the Skyline Foundation group. They have 23 students enrolled in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. They have a Bass Fishing Tournament scheduled for May 26 and you can contact Brian Sherrill at 417-683-7950 for more information. The board then discussed tuition rates for high schools for next year. It was noted that Norwood has raised their rates to $4,900.

In the superintendent’s report, it was reported that enrollment for March was 92 in kindergarten through grade 8, with 11 students in preschool. The board received information on the Skyline Science Fair and the OSEF Science Fair.

Kindergarten and 8th grade graduation is set for May 14.

The next  regular board meeting will be Thursday, May 17, at 7 p.m.
