Ava Takes 2nd In District Golf; Team Qualifies for State Sectional

Seymour hosted the Class 2 District 5 golf tournament at Marshfield on Monday.
Ava took second with a team score of 347, finishing behind only Mtn. View-Liberty with a score of 341.
Licking took third place with a score of 384 and Willow Springs was fourth at 385.
All five Ava varsity players made the all-district team and Ava qualified for sectionals as a team.
The state sectional meet will be played at the Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course in Springfield on Wednesday, May 2, beginning at 9 a.m. Springfield Catholic will be the host team for that event.
Ava’s individual scores were Trae Everett 84, Jesse Dean 84, Dexter Fish 89, Seth Maples 90, and Tristan Haltom 93.
Dean and Everett tied for sixth low individual, Fish was ninth, Maples 10th and Haltom 13th.
Ian Barnes, of Licking, was first place overall individual with a five-over parr 75.
