The Ava Lions Club building took on a different look on Tuesday, April 17.
When guests arrived for the fashion show they found transformation of the modern day decorations to an aura of nostalgic fashions of ladies’ hats and purses. Each table held a centerpiece of colorful scarves or laces, adorned by a nostalgic hat or purse, or both, along with some colorful jewelry and spangles.
As guests arrived they were asked to register and place their registration ticket into a hat for a drawing later. The food bar was laden with fresh fruits, muffins and a cake which carried on the hat theme. Very colorful spring outfits were waiting in the dressing room for local models. Although not professional models, the following ladies carried on their duties with taste and professionalism: Margaret Burrington, Betty Moore, Donna Walker, Joan Knapp, Mary Mackey, Virginia Parsley, Terri Fossett, and Phyllis Swofford. Both Terri and Phyllis were doing dual duty. Terri was assisting the models with their outfits while Phyllis was assisting Linda and Judy with refreshments. Throughout the event many names were drawn from the hat and lucky recipients received various prizes of scarves, purses, sunglasses or jewelry. This annual spring event is sponsored by Town & Country Bank and Backwoods Diva.
