Ava Art Guild To Conduct Polymer Clay Workshop

Want to try making Fimo clay figures? Don’t know what that is? The Ava Art Guild will be conducting a workshop led by Tamara Griswold, a long time member of the guild, on Saturday, April 20, with social time starting at 1 p.m., a short business meeting at 1:30 p.m., and the workshop at 2 p.m.

Fimo or polymer clay is a sculptable material. After the material is sculpted it is then baked to become a hard permanent work of art. “This should be a really fun workshop, a time to be really creative”, said Ana Felix, summer camp director. Everyone is welcome, it is free, and all materials are provided by the Ava Art Guild.

The Art Guild is in full swing with the first event of this year being the Ava Art and Fine Craft Festival. It was a great success. People from all over the area came to shop and enjoy the vendors’ demonstrations. Look for this to become an annual event.

The next upcoming event is the annual Spring Art Show, with members and the public showcasing their talents in many categories. There will be 3-D art, paintings, drawings and photography. There are categories for adults and juniors (under 18). All art must be family friendly but anyone can enter with very low entry fees. Deadline for all art in the Spring Show will be May 28 by 4 p.m.

The Ava Art Guild, an all volunteer organization, and Gallery is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with unique gifts and art for sale. There is also a small art supply store with canvases, paint, high quality pencils and more available.
