Ava Middle School Boys Hold First Track Meet of the Season

The Ava Middle School track teams participated in the Liberty Middle School Invitational Meet on March 27 to open the 2012 track season. Nine area schools participated in the meet.

Ava’s 7th grade boys finished second in their division and the 8th grade boys finished fifth in their division.

Results for Ava athletes who placed in the top six in each event and team results were as follow:

7th Grade Boys

Discus throw: Chance Clevenhagen, 1st  (71’4”);  Davyn Orcutt  4th

100 meter hurdles:  Zimran Lawrence 3rd.

100 meter dash:  Cyprus Phillips 2nd

800 meter relay:  3rd  (Eli Maggard, Orcutt, Brandon Johnson, Lawrence)

1600 meter run:  Jacob Luebbering 2nd, Maggard 5th.

800 meter run:  Luebbering 3rd, Maggard 5th.

200 meter dash:  Cyprus Phillips 2nd.

1600 meter relay:  4th (Titus Pinckney, Michael Phillips, Tyler Johnson, Blake Litwiller).

8th Grade Boys

Long jump:  Hayden Schuster 5th.

Shot put:  Zach Hunsaker 4th, Cody Johnson 5th.

Discus throw:  Colton Overcast 2nd.

100 meter dash:  Overcast 4th.

800 meter relay:  2nd (Tod Roberts, Nate Bray, Overcast, Johnson).

1600 meter run:  Schuster 3rd.

400 meter relay:  3rd (Colby McCollum, Bray, Overcast, Johnson).

800 meter run:  Schuster 4th.

200 meter dash:  Johnson 5th.

1600 meter relay: 6th (McCollum, Dakota Pierce, Roberts, Schuster).
