Max Alan Wood, 70
Max Alan Wood, 70 years, departed from the arms of his loving family into the arms of Jesus on March 4, 2012 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Mo., with his family by his side.
Max was born May 28, 1941 in Ava, Mo., to Etzel and Alice (Posey) Wood. Max was married to Norma Buchanan on May 28, 1958. They had 53 wonderful years together. Max retired from Missouri State University in 2000 after 31 years of service. Max enjoyed retirement doing what he liked the most which included fishing, spending time outdoors, riding horses, following his wife to Branson and spending as much times as he could with his family.
At Missouri State University he was Director of Auxiliary Services where he was in charge of the Bookstore, Vending, Merchandising and Food Service.
He was inducted onto the Wall of Fame at MSU in 2006 for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the University.
Max served in the Army from 1962 to 1965. He was a deacon at Eastside General Baptist Church from 1987 to his death. Max was well known for his smile, his firm hand shake, his integrity and honesty and most of all his love for his family, friends and church.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Etzel and Alice.
His loves were his wife, Norma Wood, Ozark, Mo.; two children, Tonya Anderson and husband, Brad, Smyrna, Tenn., and Matthew Alan Wood, Ozark, Mo.; two grandchildren, Trey Alan and Alexia Lynn Wood, Ozark, Mo.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Max were Wednesday, March 7, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Goodhope Cemetery, Ava, Mo. Visitation was Tuesday, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Officiating were the Revs. Robert Roberts and Russell Sanders.
