Skyline R-2 Board Meeting Feb. 23
The Skyline R-2 Board met in regular session on Thursday Feb. 23, with four members present. The consent agenda items were discussed and approved.
In old business the board discussed the possible revenues and expenditures for 2012-13. Items for the budget that were discussed had to do with the revenue scenarios that have been presented as possibilities, preschool changes, and whether a shorter calendar would save any money or not. No decisions were made at this time.
In new business the board voted to accept the testing schedule for spring 2012 MAP and Terra Nova tests. The board also changed the March meeting to March 22. The reorganizational meeting will be held Thursday, April 5.
Summer school was discussed and it was approved to have four weeks of summer school in June. Busing may be an issue for summer school because of the bridge replacement on Highway 76. The board then discussed the Special Education Desk Review that is in progress and the MSIP checklist that has been completed and turned in.
In the Superintendent’s Report: Enrollment for January was reported at 94 students in kindergarten through grade 8, and 11 students in preschool.
Ms. Jeanne Curtis will be attending the Distinction in Performance Banquet in March for a Celebration of Academic Performance.
Skyline missed two days for snow and will be using March 15 and 16 as make up days. School board election is scheduled for April 3.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 22, at 7 p.m.
