Geraldine Marie "Gerry" Walker, 83

Geraldine Marie Walker, 83 years, passed to heaven on Feb. 21, 2012 at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, Mo.

Gerry was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Mobeetie, Texas, to Clifford and Mary (Novak) Barnum.

On Sept. 5, 1947 Gerry and James Doyle Walker were united in marriage in Springfield, Mo., and to this union one daughter and four sons were born.

Gerry raised her children in Waterloo, Iowa, working for Chamberlain Manufacturing Co. as a timekeeper. She had also worked in Ava as manager for Redbud Village until 2003 when she became ill. Gerry volunteered at the Ava Senior Center and served on the SMOA Board of Directors for several years.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Evansdale, Iowa. In Ava she had attended the First General Baptist Church.

Gerry enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family. Other hobbies were crocheting, bowling, gardening and decorating birthday cakes for all her family. Gerry never met a stranger and was always ready with a hug for everyone. She loved us all unconditionally!

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Doyle in 1985, infant twin boys, James and Richard, and two sons, Wade Lee and Jaimie Todd.

Gerry is survived by one daughter and husband, Erin Rae (Walker) and Carl Ulm, West Plains, Mo.; five grandchildren, Christian Walker, Samuel Walker, Lesley (Ulm) Brigman and husband, Jason, Nicole Walker and Brandon Walker; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Wade, Justus Walker and Garrett Brigman; and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Gerry were Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the Dogwood Cemetery. Prior to service there was a visitation Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo.  Memorials may be made to Dogwood Cemetery.
