Bonnie Lee Reid, 92

Bonnie Lee Reid, 92 years, went home to Heaven on Feb. 25, 2012 at Magnolia Square, Springfield, Mo.

Bonnie was born Feb. 9, 1920 in Ozark County, Mo., to James Everett and Willie Ethel (Steelman) Cantwell.

Bonnie was a resident of Springfield since 1995 moving from Ava, Mo., where she lived for many years.

On June 27, 1938 Bonnie and Russell Reid were united in marriage and to this union eight children were born.

Bonnie was a retired bookkeeper and secretary. She worked for the Douglas County Herald and for Welton Gravel Co. in Ava. Bonnie became a Christian at an early age and was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Almartha Chapter.

Bonnie enjoyed cooking, reading and visiting with all her friends and family. She was a great homemaker and loved her family.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Patricia Crane, infant son, David, and a brother, Floyd Cantwell.

Bonnie is survived by six children, Beverly Reid, Springfield, Mo., Lonnie Reid and wife Susan, Fairfield, Calif., James Reid and wife Donna, St. Louis, Mo., Gary Randall Reid, Alexandria, Va., Kathy Shaffer, Minneapolis, Minn., and Kirk Reid and wife, Jessika, Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Maxine Grote, Ava, Mo., and Jeanette Jones Loveland, Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Carl Cantwell, Springfield, Mo.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Bonnie were Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday from 1 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Oren Alcorn.
