Hobert Wood, 84

Hobert Edward Wood, age 84, of Dardanelle, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at his home.

He was born June 1, 1927 at Logan County in Delaware to the late Brownie and Donnie Higgins Wood. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a lifetime member of the Boyce Woods VFW Post #3141 in Dardanelle. He loved to play music, loved everyone and loved to laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry Dale Wood; five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Erma Dean Wood of Dardanelle, Ark.; children and spouses, Jerry and Barbara Wood of Hardford, Calif., Gwen and T.P. Vanlandingham of Kerinan, Calif., Rhonda and Danny Wood of Soma, Calif., Shauna and Tom Smith of Bakersfield, Calif., Scotty and Sherry Wood of Dardanelle, Ark., Garry Wood of Danville, Ark.; Brenda and Jim Baker of Ava, Mo., stepdaughter, Sissy and Louis Nichols of Dardanelle, Ark.; one sister, Mildred Laswell of Indianapolis, Ind.; 39 grand- and great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle, Ark.

Visitation was held 1-2 p.m. before the service at the chapel.

The family would like to give special thanks to those who gave us strength through their love and care. These include Arkansas Hospice and all their employees, In Focus Home Health, Bobbie Jo Noblett, Brenda Vestal, and Chelsey White.
