Douglas Co. Historical Society Meets Feb. 20 At the Museum

The Douglas County Historical Society held its monthly meeting on Feb. 20, in the museum.
President Pat Carmichael called the meeting to order.  Sharon read the treasurers report and the minutes of the January meeting and they were approved.

Sharon gave an update on the new Dogwood trees to be planted in memory of Guy and Doris Gettys.

After a discussion  the  decision was put on hold till the next meeting about selling our publication  at  places other than at the museum.

We have set the date for the summer hours, they will start  May 2 and we will be open each week Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am till 2 pm each day.  If we have enough people come through we plan on doing this all summer and into the fall.

The date has been set for the Bob Holt celebration and it will be on May 12 at 1 p.m.  More details will follow and if you want to get involved call 417-926-3363 or 683-2536.

Our 20th year celebration will also be held in May.

The Mansfield Historical Society is wanting pictures of old stores, etc.  that were north of Bryant Creek in Douglas County. If you want them to use a picture of yours, leave a message at 417-924-8062 and someone will get back to you.

After a discussion of other things that need to be done before spring, a motion was made by Joe and seconded by Marilyn to close the meeting.

The meeting was closed by Gladys Peak reading a poem that she had written.  We are very proud of her many talents.
