District Tournament Begins With Girls' Play Saturday

Ava Bears, Lady Bears Seeded 3rd

The Missouri Class 3, District 2 basketball tournament will be held at Cabool High School beginning Saturday, Feb. 25.

Girls action will begin at 1:30 Saturday with Alton and Cabool meeting in a play-in to determine who will face No. 1 seed Seymour later.

First round games on Saturday will have Licking (4) and Mtn. View-Liberty (5) playing at 3 o’clock and Willow Springs (2) and Houston (7) at 4:30.

The Ava Lady Bears, seeded third in the tournament, will face Mtn. Grove at 6 o’clock Saturday.

Semifinals games will be played on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 6 and 7:30 p.m., with the girls’ championship to be decided at 7 o’clock Friday, March 2.

Seymour is also the No. 1 seed on the boys’ district tournament bracket.

Houston and Willow Springs will play at 12 noon Saturday to determine who will advance to play Seymour at 6:30 Monday, Feb. 27, in first-round action.

Other first-round games will have Mtn. View-Liberty (4) playing No. 5 Alton at 8 p.m. Monday, and Licking (2) facing Mtn. Grove (7) at 6 o’clock Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The Ava Bears are seeded third in boys’ play and will face Cabool at 7:30 Tuesday.

Semifinals for the boys will be held on Thursday, March 1 at 6 and 7:30 p.m., with the boys’ championship to be decided at 7 o’clock Saturday, March 3.
