Ava Lady Bears End Regular Season with Win at Houston

The Ava Lady Bears defeated Houston, 49-40, on the road last Thursday night to close out the regular schedule.

The Lady Bears will open district play at Cabool Saturday, facing Mtn. Grove.

Payton Lakey scored 16 points for the Lady Bears at Houston and Jorie Garrett added 14.

The Ava girls finished the SCA at 6-1, behind Willow Springs with a perfect 7-0 conference record. The Lady Bears are currently 19-6.

Others scoring for Ava at Houston were Bethany Horn 8, Abbie Lansdown 5, Erica Croney 4 and Emily Sterling 2.

Freshman Kylee Elmore led Houston with 14 points and Alexa Ichord had 13 for the Lady Tigers.

Ava led Houston 31-20 at halftime.
