Gregory Allen Mackey, 52
Gregory Allen Mackey, 52, of Branson, Mo., passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 in his home. Gregory was born on Oct. 26, 1959 in Kansas City, Kan., to Franklin D. and Louise Elizabeth (Cooley) Mackey, the eldest of four children.
Gregory grew up in Independence, Mo., where he attended elementary schools and graduated from Truman High School. He also attended School of the Ozarks College two years.
Gregory was a resident of the Branson vicinity approximately 25 years. His primary occupation was carpenter and assisted with construction and repair of condominium structures, commercial buildings and residential homes in the Lake Table Rock and Taneycomo areas. He also worked in building maintenance services at various restaurants and motels.
Gregory was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Durward and Ruby (Sturman) Mackey of Ava, Mo.; his maternal grandfather, Lloyd Noah Cooley, Atchison, Kan.; three uncles, Ray Harlin Mackey, Sr., Ava, Mo.; David Sturman Mackey, Fayetteville, Ark.; Lloyd Noah “Norman” Cooley, Jr., Tonganoxie, Kan.
Gregory is survived by his parents, Independence, Mo.; brother, Douglas Franklin Mackey (MarSue Witcher Mackey), Lawrence, Kan.; sister, Gretchen Louise (Mackey) Janes (Tony Ray Janes), Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Jonathan Michael Mackey (Tricia Gatchett Mackey), Lee’s Summit, Mo.; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Louise Harris Cooley, Atchison, Kan.; aunt, Anne Loraine (Cooley) Locke (Arden Locke), Lawrence, Kan.; uncle, Ralph Lee Cooley (Barbara), Oklahoma City, Okla.; aunt, Sherryl Krosgaard Cooley, Custer, S.D.; aunt, Evelyn Marie (Cooley) Burkart (Kenneth Burkart), Lawrence, Kan.; paternal aunt, Judith Ann (Mackey) Morisset (Leroy Floyd Morisset), Ozark, Mo.; uncle, Durward Nelson Mackey (Joyce Elaine Trost Mackey), Ozark, Mo.; aunt, Judith Marie (Grimes) Mackey, Fayetteville, Ark.; aunt, Ruby Jane (Mackey) Burton (Larry Leo Burton), Ozark, Mo.; one niece, five nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service for Gregory was held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. in the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, Branson, Mo., with inurnment burial in the nearby Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time in the funeral home. Officiating was Rev. Larry Kackley. Memorials may be made to College of the Ozarks Alumni Association, Point Lookout, Mo.
