Dale H. Ussery, 70

Dale H. Ussery, 70 years, passed away on Feb. 7, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mo.

Dale was born Oct. 23, 1941 in Greene County, Ill., to Lloyd and Mildred (Bechdolt) Ussery.

Dale was a resident of the Ava community for the past eight years moving from Pisgah, Iowa, where he retired from Union Pacific Railroad. He worked for the railroad for over 34 years. On Sept. 7, 1996 Dale and Paula Baumwart were united in marriage in Pisgah, Iowa.

Dale was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed raising and hunting black and tan coonhounds. He would take his coonhounds to Montana to track cougars. Dale was three-time President of the American Black & Tan Coon Hound Association and member since 1964. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Dale is survived by his wife, Paula Ussery, Ava, Mo.; two children, Steven Ussery and wife, Debra, of Pierce, Neb., and Rachle Ussery, of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Nick, Gus, Jake and Melinda Ussery; a brother, Jerry Ussery; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Dale will be at a later date and time at Carrollton, Ill.
