Lester C. Wallace, 87

Lester C. Wallace, 87, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at Trinity West in Rock Island, Ill.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 am, Monday, Jan. 30, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation was from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.  Burial, with military honors, was in Rock Island National Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 18, 1925 in Mansfield, Mo., the son of Albert J. and Susie J. (Pope) Wallace.  He was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1946, having served on the USS Randall, and married Genevieve Fitzgerald in Ava, Mo., in 1949.

Mr. Wallace moved to Bettendorf to work at the J.I. Case plant in 1947, retiring from there in 1987.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bettendorf.

Survivors include his wife Genevieve; children and spouses: Brenda and Chris Gingry, Joe and Claudia Wallace, and Lisa and Tracy Van Damme; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Robin Wallace.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Ron.
