Hazardous Waste Collections Set For This Spring

South Central Solid Waste Management District has scheduled annual collections of hazardous household materials for this spring throughout the region.

Items that will be collected include all types of paint including latex, oil based and aerosol cans; use motor oil and antifreeze; batteries including vehicle, rechargeable, and button batteries; as well as pesticides and herbicides.

There will also be a collection site for old televisions, microwaves and computers.

These collections are for households only, no businesses. No containers larger than five gallons will be accepted.

All collections will take place on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

The collection site in Ava will be at the County Maintenance Shed on FF Highway on Saturday, May 5.
