Bear's Den 2.1.2012
As part of the Ava R-I School District’s Bears Den after-school program, students enrolled in the Caring Kids/Agents of Change middle school class have been learning about and participating in a variety of community service projects. On Monday, Jan. 23, students assisted in serving dinner to residents of the Heart of the Ozarks Nursing Home. Students were able to deliver their hand-made lap blankets and visit with residents.
On Wednesday, Jan. 25, students began creating homemade dog treats and toys to donate to rescued animals. Ozark Haven Rescue will be visiting with students on Feb. 1, to educate them on the services they provide as well as general animal/pet care.
In addition to these activities, students enrolled in the Bears Den program are provided with an after-school meal as well as receive tutoring and/or homework help. For more information on programs available contact Mr. David Williams, After-School Programs Director.
