James L. Cowart, 78

James L. Cowart, age 78, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1933 in Jarrell, Texas, to Wilburn Lee Cowart and Lois Louise (Whitley) Cowart.
James graduated from high school in Florence, Texas. He was a veteran who served in the Korean War and then spent 20 years in the Missouri National Guard. He then retired from the military. James worked for the GTE Corporation. He was of the Lutheran faith and member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football, traveling and loved his friends.
Survivors include wife of 40 years, Lore Cowart, of Kerrville; children, Paul Lee Cowart and wife, Paula of Duncanville, Texas, and David Ray Cowart and wife, Debbie of Rowlett, Texas; brother, Ray Cowart of Weatherford, Texas; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cowart in 1992.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m., at Corn Hill Cemetery in Jarrell, Texas, officiated by Chaplain Steve Doss.
Memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice in Kerrville or a charity of one’s choice.
