Pickup Snaps Power Pole North of Town Wednesday

The driver of the truck shown above escaped serious injury around noon Wednesday when he ran off Highway 76 and hit a utility pole at the Don Cunningham residence north of Ava. The pole snapped, causing both telephone and electric lines to come down across the highway. The driver, whose name was not released at press time, was taken to the hospital by Cox Ambulance. Ava Rural Fire Department assisted with traffic control while the White River Electric and CenturyLink lines were being put back up.
