Papers Were Not Delivered
Our office received a number of calls during the past week from subscribers across a wide area of the state who said they did not receive their Douglas County Herald.
When it became apparent that there was a delivery problem, we called the post office and were told there was a problem with the Springfield office, through which most of our Missouri papers – and others – must pass en route to the subscriber. From information we received this week, we believe most newspapers arrived at their destination by Tuesday.
Once again we would like to remind our customers that the Douglas County Herald is always delivered to the Ava Post Office on Thursday. Once the papers are deposited with the post office, we have no control over when or how they are delivered.
Our office receives hundreds of calls each year from subscribers who are unhappy with their delivery service. Most seem to assume when their paper is delivered late it is because we mailed it late. That is simply not the case.
Most of the time the delivery problem is not at our post office nor at your post office – it’s somewhere in between. And that “in between” area is hard to do anything about.
