Ava School Board Holds Special Meeting

Jun 26, 2008

Ava R-I School Board held a special meeting last Thursday in the ongoing effort to finalize staff and teaching positions prior to the 2008-09 school year.

During closed session, a resignation from Charlotte Gazette, first-grade teacher, was acknowledged by the board, along with several personnel changes and the hiring of new staff members.

Crystal Ray, who previously taught middle school special education in Ava, was engaged as fifth-grade math teacher.
Lynda Clouse, seventh-grade science teacher, has opted to move into the job duties of middle school librarian.

New hires selected by the board were Pat Duvall, sign language interpreter for middle school, and Justin Gilmore, ISS supervisor (in-school suspension).

Debbie Tabor and Jerry Maggard, Jr. were hired to fill two custodial positions in the elementary building.

The next meeting of the board is Thursday (today), June 26, 6:30 p.m.
