Sheriff Reminds Citizens To Be

Jun 19, 2008

With the warmer weather comes more outdoor activities. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wishes to remind everyone to enjoy their summer but remember to be safety conscious. While driving, watch carefully for children playing and workers working.

The warmer weather also brings us to planting season. While most citizens are planting their gardens with cucumbers and tomatoes, others are cultivating illegal substances; if you should encounter some of these illegal plants, please call the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department at 417-683-1020. You may keep your identity confidential.

“Our department relies heavily on the citizens of the county to report illegal activities and appreciates all the tips received from the public,” says Sheriff Gary Koop.

“Although our priority is protecting the county, we welcome visitors and all comments from our citizens,” Koop says.
Please feel free to stop by or mail your comments to: Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, PO Box 907, Ava, MO 65608.
