52nd Annual Saddle Club
The Ava Saddle Club will be holding its 52nd annual point horse show next week, June 20 and 21, at the Saddle Club grounds located just west of the Ava city limits on Highway 14.
Stock horses will perform on Friday night, with classes beginning at 7:30. Saturday night’s show will be for gaited horses, featuring the Missouri Fox Trotter. Saturday’s show also begins at 7:30 p.m.
This point show is sanctioned by the South Central Horse Show Association and the Southwest Missouri Horse Show Association. Admission is $3 for adults, with children under 6 admitted free.
Friday night’s show will include classes for timed events, horsemanship and pleasure. Saturday night’s show will include model, horsemanship and performance classes.
Tom Trimmer will be stock horse judge, with Becky Green serving as judge for the gaited classes. Five places will be paid cash in each class. Entry fee is $4 per class.
This year there will be two special classes each night. The Saddle Club received a donation from Hobby Horse Clothing Company of Chino, Calif., of four $100 gift certificates and beautiful ribbons for these classes.
There will be one youth and one adult class for the Hobby Horse Rookie Rewards Walk/Trot Horsemanship on Friday night and again on Saturday night. These classes are for any youth or adult who has never won a blue ribbon in any riding class.
If you think you qualify and can ride your horse at a walk and a trot, wash up that trusty steed and dress up in your finest riding attire and come out to the Ava Saddle Club on June 20 or 21.
