Several people have contacted the Herald during the past week regarding the condition of Jonathan Batcheller who was involved in a car wreck on Monday night, May 26. The word we have been able to gather, as of Wednesday afternoon, is that his condition is still critical, although we have been told, unofficially, that procedures have been performed that indicate his condition is improving. The 18-year-old May graduate of Ava High School is a patient in the intensive care unit at Cox South Hospital, Springfield, where he was taken following the one-car crash that occurred northeast of Ava on Highway 76. During the past week he has undergone surgery to repair broken bones and there is still concern about head trauma.
