Cong. Emerson: FEMA Deadline For Individual

May 8, 2008

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) recently reminded victims of Missouri’s March flooding that May 27 will be the absolute deadline to file an application for individual assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“It is extremely important, even if you had flood insurance, that victims of this disaster explore the opportunities for federal assistance to help them recover from the losses caused by these severe storms,” Emerson said. “The deadline is the very last chance just to get your foot in the door to pursue the resources in place to really help storm victims get back on their feet. These floods wreaked havoc throughout our congressional district, and I want to be sure that everyone who needs help gets it.”

To register or to check the status of an existing registration, call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired. Online, go to www.fema.gov.
