Residents Charged With

Apr 17, 2008

On April 15, shortly after midnight, Ava Police officers Chuck Bunch and Cassidy Martin responded to a report on South Jefferson St. of a party possibly involving underage drinking and use of illegal drugs.

Upon arrival, Officer Bunch heard loud music coming from the residence and attempted to gain the occupants’ attention by knocking on the door. Officer Bunch was unable to make contact until the music stopped and upon the occupants hearing him knock on the front door, he observed a female subject attempting to hide something. Officer Bunch determined the item was a marijuana pipe and upon further investigation located approximately 24 grams of marijuana and other various paraphernalia items.

Arrested were Patrick L. Bristol, 28, and Melinda D. Scott, 30.

Bristol was charged with private peace disturbance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bristol posted $750 bond at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, a police report said.

Scott was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was released after posting $600 bond.

Both subjects were given a court date of June 16 and were released pending court disposition.
