Town Hall Meeting On Underage Drinking
Community Partnership, the Ava Advance 2000 team, the Douglas County CHART (Community Health Assessment Resource Team) and the Douglas County Health Department are partnering to host a town hall meeting for parents and community members on Friday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Plainview R-8 School.
Alcohol, the most widely abused substance by teens, kills six times more teenagers than all other drugs combined. The purpose of this meeting is to educate the audience about the prevalence and dangers teens face when abusing alcohol. A meal will be provided from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Child care is also provided and inflatable bounce houses and games will be available for the children during the presentation for parents and the community from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A panel of experts will discuss the problems associated with underage drinking, as well as share solutions that teens, parents, grandparents, and the community can implement to reduce teen use of alcohol.
This event is free and open to the public.
