Mobile Home Damaged By

Apr 3, 2008

The Ava Volunteer Fire Department spent several hours at the scene of a mobile home fire last Monday morning, and despite access limitations, were able to salvage the property with limited damage.

The home on NE 9th Street, owned by Bascom and Geraldine Huskey, consisted to two mobile homes connected by a common breezeway and roof. The cause of the fire, which seemed to be mostly in the floor of the south unit, was not determined, but Fire Chief Eddie Maggard said he felt certain it was accidental.

There was no fire in the unit on the north, and that unit sustained little or no damage from the fire.

The unit on the south where the fire was located sustained major structural damage as walls had to be torn away to gain access to the flames.
