The ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 5993 in Ava held a 20th birthday party Sunday, March 9, at the VFW Hall in Ava. Present were three of the remaining five charter members of the organization. Anniversary membership pins were awarded, including one for 40 years to Fontella Wilke. The Ladies Auxiliary is open to all women who are daughters, granddaughters or spouses of veterans (living or deceased) who served overseas in harm’s way.
