Police Are Busy; Solve 8 of 10
The Ava Police Department has been busy during the past three weeks, but the work has paid off as eight of 10 burglaries have been solved.
Sgt. Denny Hall said 10 burglaries have been reported in the city since Feb. 21, and as of Wednesday of this week, eight had been solved, three people have been arrested, and a fourth person is being sought.
Sgt. Hall emphasized that it was through information shared with police by the public that these break-ins were solved so quickly.
“We really appreciate the public’s information,” Sgt. Hall said.
Those who have been arrested and charged at this time are: William J. Perryman, 20, charged with eight counts of 2nd degree burglary and one count of 1st degree property damage. His bond has been set at $130,000.
Mindy L. Hicks, 19, three counts of 2nd degree burglary. Her bond is $45,000.
Larry L. Smith, 19, being held on amended charges of possession of stolen property and three counts of 2nd degree burglary. He was originally charged with possession of burglary tools. His bond has not yet be set.
These charges stem from a series of burglaries at businesses in the city during the past three weeks.
