Douglas County Assessor Danny Gray reminds property owners this week that 2008 assessment lists are due in his office prior to March 1. Assessment forms were mailed out several weeks ago and Missouri law requires that the forms be returned to the assessor's office by March 1. Those who do not return their forms by March 1 are subject to a penalty which is based on property values. The penalties are mandatory, and statues provide almost no discretion to waive penalties, Gray said. Anyone who did not receive an assessment form in the mail, or anyone with questions about filling out their form, may contact the assessor's office in the courthouse, at 683-2829.
