Household Hazardous Waste Collections

The South Central Solid Waste Management District will hold a free collection for various household hazardous waste items this spring.

At the collection sites, the district will accept paint, used motor oil, antifreeze, batteries of all types, pesticides and herbicides. Also accepted at these collection sites will be computers, televisions and microwaves.

These collections are for households only—no businesses.
Also, no containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted.
All these collections are open to households in the seven counties of the Solid Waste District which include Douglas, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Shannon, Texas, and Wright.

All collections will take place on Saturdays from 9 a.m. till 12 noon.

Collections are scheduled as follows:

March 15, in Roby (Texas County) by at the Roby Lion's Club;
March 22, in Gainesville, at the Recycling Center on Co Rd 503;
March 29, in Norwood behind the square;
April 5, in Houston, on the parking lot of the Rural Fire House;
April 12, in Alton, on Courthouse Square;
April 19, in West Plains, at the Transfer Station;
April 26, in Ava, at DoCo, Inc. on NW 9th Street;
May 3, in Winona on the square;
May 10, in Summersville, on the square;
May 17, in Mountain Grove, at the maintenance shed off Hwy. 95;
May 24, in Mountain View at the Recycling Center;
May 31, in Cabool, downtown by the City Park, the road by Subway.
