Ava qualified seven events and 10 athletes at the district meet last weekend for the state sectional track meet at Branson Saturday. The top four finishers in each event move on to the sectional meet. Senior Ely Parker placed first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.61 seconds. Cody Cole placed second in 800-meter run and fourth in the 1600-meter run; and Austin Maggard placed fourth in the 200-meter dash. The 4x400m relay team of Parker, William Platt, Damien Hutson and Cole placed second; the 4x800m relay team of Platt, Joseph Dering, Corey Neal and Jacob Schnieder placed third; and the 4x200m relay placed fourth. Those runners include Mark Philpott, Parker, Ethan Horn and Maggard.
