The Ava Middle School girls’ track teams competed in the SCA conference meet on Tuesday, April 29. The 7th grade girls took 4th place in the meet, with Willow Springs as the SCA Champs this year. Ava 7th grade had two relays that were SCA champions. The 800m relay team took 1st place with a time of 2:04.31. The 800m relay team members are Jaki Breland, Cori Dry, Makayla Rance and Hannah Johnson. The 1600m relay was also the SCA champ; they were 1st place with a time of 5:04.72. Relay members are Amanda Greene, Brittany Walker, Ashley Rieken and Cori Dry. Cori Dry took 2nd place in the 400m run with her best time of the season 1:06. The 400m relay team also took 2nd place. Members are Abby Sparnicht, Makayla Rance, Kayla Dougherty and Amanda Greene. Third place finishes at the conference meet went to Jaki Breland in the 1600m run, Ashley Rieken in the 800m run; and Hannah Johnson in the long jump. Fourth place finishes went to Abby Sparnicht in the 100m dash and Kayla Dougherty in the shot put. Athletes finishing 5th place at conference were Hannah Johnson in the 100m dash; Kaitlin Lawrence in the 800m run; Hannah Johnson in the 200m dash; Cori Dry in the long jump; and Brittany Walker in the triple jump. Sixth place ribbons went to Kim Denney in the triple jump and Amanda Greene in the 400m run. The 8th grade team also finished 4th place at the SCA meet, Mtn. Grove was the SCA champion this season. Ava had two athletes finish in 2nd place at the conference meet. Carmen Potts was 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 30'10"; and Kendra McCleary was 2nd in a very close battle in the 800m run. Third place finishes went to Heather Reese in the 1600m run; Jori Garrett in the high jump and the triple jump; and Makenna Reagan in the 400m run. Athletes finishing 4th place were members of the 400m relay and the 1600m relay teams. The 400m relay team consists of Mikali Elliott, Emily Sterling, Jori Garrett and Brittany Hart. 1600m relay members are Kendra McCleary, Carmen Potts, Haley Williams and Makenna Reagan. Ava’s 800m relay finished in 5th place. Relay members are Kendra McCleary, Emily Sterling, Mikali Elliott and Brittany Hart. 6th place ribbons went to Carmen Potts in the discus; Brittany Hart in the 200m dash; and Haley Williams in the shot put.
