The Ava Middle School girls participate in a track meet at Mtn. Grove last week with several area teams. Ava 7th grade girls individual results: 4x200 relay: 1st (Hannah Johnson, Jaki Breland, Makayla Rance, Cori Dry). 4x100 relay: 6 (Makayla Rance, Kayla Dougherty, Abby Sparnicht, Amanda Greene). 4x400 relay: 1st (Cori Dry, Brittany Walker, Ashley Rieken, Amanda Greene). 100m Dash: Abby Sparnicht, 4th; Hannah Johnson, 8th. 1600m Run: Jaki Breland, 5th. Discus: Kayla Dougherty, 5th. Shot Put: Kayla Dougherty, 4th. 400m Dash: Cori Dry, 2nd. 800m run: Ashley Rieken, 4th. 200m Dash: Hannah Johnson 3rd. 7th Girls Team Scoring: 1st, Willow Springs 141.5; 2nd (tie), Houston 66, Mtn. High Jump: Jori Garrett, 1st. 800m Run: Kendra McCleary, 1st. 1600m Run: Heather Reese, 5th. 8th Grade Girls Team Results: 1st, Mtn. Grove, 115; 2nd, Cabool, 76; 3rd, West Plains, 63; 4th, Mtn. Ava Middle School Track teams traveled to Marshfield on Friday, April 18 for a cold track meet. Ten teams competed in this meet including Ozark, Nixa, Branson, Rogersville, Marshfield, Buffalo, Greenwood, Hartville, and Bolivar. Ozark girls won both the 7th & 8th grade meet. Ava 7th grade girls brought home seven medals from the meet. Medals were given for first, second and third places. Cori Dry took 2nd in the 400m run, Jaki Breland placed 3rd in the 1600m run, and the 7th grade 800m relay took 2nd in a very close race getting beat by Branson by a lean. The 800m relay team included Jaki Breland, Makayla Rance, Cori Dry, and Hannah Johnson. Others placing at the meet in the 7th grade: Amanda Greene, 4th place in the 400m run; Ashley Rieken, 4th in the 800m run; Hannah Johnson, 7th in long jump and 8th in the 200m dash; Kayla Dougherty, 7th in discus; and Brittany Walker, 7th in the triple jump. 8th grade: Heather Reese, 8th in the 1600m run; Kendra McCleary 5th in the 800m run; Abby Lathrom, 6th in high jump, Carmen Potts, 5th in shot put and 8th in discus; and Emily Sterling, 8th in triple jump.
