Norwood R-1 Screening Set For Kindergarten,

Apr 3, 2008

The Norwood R-1 School District will have P.A.T., Early Childhood and kindergarten screenings for children from birth through age 5 during the second full week of May.

Screening dates for children wanting to enroll in the Early Childhood program will be Monday-Wednesday, May 12, 13 and 14. Screening dates for students wanting to enroll in kindergarten for the 2008-09 school year will be on Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16. Screenings are a free service offered to anyone in the district regardless of whether you choose to participate in any of the programs. This screening is required for children who will enroll in Early Childhood or kindergarten for the 2008-09 school year.

This will be the only screening dates for next school year. Children must be 3 or 4 years old before Aug. 1, 2008, to enroll in Early Childhood. They must be 5 before Aug. 1 to enroll in kindergarten.

Appointments will be taken beginning April 7. To schedule an appointment, call 417-746-4101 ext. 156. Please call between the hours of 8 a.m., and 3:30 p.m. Screenings will take approximately 1 hour. Forms will be available to enroll your child during your appointment. This enrollment form must be signed by the parent/guardian of the child. Your child's birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records and proof of residency (utility bill, driver's license, real estate/renter's contract) are required for Early Childhood and kindergarten enrollment.

Developmental screenings for children now 6 months to 3 years will also be conducted May 12 through May 16 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. These screenings, provided by Parents As Teachers, are free; enrollment in the P.A.T. program is not required. Call 417-746-4101 ext. 136 with any questions or to set up an appointment.

Results of screening need to be shared with the parent or guardian, so they should bring the child to screenings.
