Second Alumni Basketball Games

Feb 21, 2008

The second Ava High School alumni basketball games will be played here on Saturday, March 22, with both men’s and women’s games scheduled.

The games are open to anyone who ever participated in basketball at Ava High School. Proceeds of the games will go to the Mandy Hampton Scholarship Fund.

Last year more than 40 former players participated in the games, and organizers would like to increase that number this year.

The women’s game will begin at 6 o’clock, with the men’s game to follow at about 7:30 p.m. There is a $10 participation fee, and each player will receive a souvenir T-shirt.

The games will be played with certified officials, scorers and clock operators. Admission is $2 per person and a concession stand will be in operation.

AHS basketball alumni planning to participate in the games should contact Larry Silvey, athletic director, or Coach Mark Wendler at Ava High School, 417-683-5747.

These games promise to not only be exciting for the alumni players but will also be entertaining from a spectator standpoint. Plan now to attend.
