Ballgames Rescheduled;
The ice storm of this week forced the postponement of varsity basketball games on Monday and Tuesday nights for Ava teams. And with the regular season wrapping up this week and the district tournament starting Saturday, coupled with the fact that the remaining games were conference contests, coaches and school officials have been scrambling to get those games rescheduled.
As of noon Wednesday, the remaining games of the season are scheduled as follows:
The Ava boys’ game at Salem will be played tonight (Thursday) beginning at 6 p.m. This will be a varsity game only.
Friday night, the boys are scheduled to play at Cabool, to wrap up the regular season.
The Ava girls are scheduled to play at Cabool tonight, in both junior varsity and varsity action. The rescheduled match with Salem will be played Friday night at Salem, beginning at 6 o’clock. This will be a varsity game only.
Class 4 District 11 tournament action begins Saturday at Branson, with girls’ action. Ava is seeded fifth in the tournament and will play Logan-Rogersville at 6 p.m. Semifinals for the girls will be played on Tuesday night at 6 p.m., with the girls’ championship on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m.
The Ava boys will open district tournament play on Monday night, at Branson. The Bears are seeded sixth and will also face Logan-Rogersville in first-round action.
Semifinals for the boys will be played at 7:30 Wednesday, Feb. 20, with the boys’ championship at 7 o’clock Friday, Feb. 22.
Team rankings on the girls’ side of the bracket include (in order): Republic, Branson, West Plains, Rogersville, Ava, and Reeds Spring.
The six boys teams in the district tournament are ranked as follows: Branson, Republic, Rogersville, Reeds Spring, West Plains and Ava.
