The Ava Bears traveled to Houston last Friday night and took a 48-40 win from the Tigers in South Central Association play. Led by 11 points from Taylor Wallace and 10 from Jonathan Batcheller, the Bears improved their record to 10-14 on the year. Ava led Houston 22-15 at halftime. Others scoring for the Bears were Josh Wendler 9, Tyler Williams 7, Brandon Stanifer 7, and Trevor Watterson 4. Houston’s Michael Buckner had 18 points to lead all scorers. The Bears will travel to Salem tonight for a 6 o’clock varsity game and will round out the regular season at Cabool on Friday night. District tournament action begins Monday at Branson.
