Bernice J. Witty, 97

Bernice J. Rohrbacher Shaw Witty, 97, went to her heavenly home June 7, 2008 at Primrose Place in Springfield, Mo.

Bernice was born Jan. 4, 1911 in Diggins, Mo., the daughter of Andrew Rohrbacher and the former Sarah Ann Hertweck. Her first marriage was to Joseph E. Shaw. Joseph and Bernice were blessed with two sons, Robert D. Shaw and Joe Dale Shaw. Mr. Shaw and one son, Robert, preceded her in death.

She grew up in Missouri and after her marriage moved to California where she raised her two sons. Bernice worked in garment factories, Diamond Walnut factory and also sold craft for several years to craft stores.

She attended Fundamental Baptist Churches and for many years was a faithful Sunday school teacher and witness for the Lord, who she loved dearly. She also faithfully supported many gospel preachers on TV and radio.

In 1980 she moved back to Missouri and married Clarence Witty in 1981. She and Mr. Witty were married for 11 years. Mr. Witty preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1992.

Also preceding in death were her parents, Andrew and Ann (Hertweck) Rohrbacher; a brother, Chester, who died in infancy, and two other brothers, Ernest and Clyde Rohrbacker; two sisters, (Mercy) Ella Lee and Melba Roper.
Survivors include one son, Joe Dale Shaw, Stockton, Calif.; a grandson, Bob Shaw, of Alaska; a sister, Pearl Arnell, of California; a stepson, Eugene and Sandy Witty, of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Pearl Arnell, California; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, in White Chapel Cemetery, Springfield, Mo. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo.
