Jeanne Upshaw, daughter of Charles Henderson and Josephine Hollen Henderson, was born on Dec. 15, 1938 in Sutherland, Iowa, and passed away on June 3, 2008 in Ava, Mo., at the age of 69 years. Jeanne was a resident of Ava since 1993 moving from Wilton, Iowa. She was a home healthcare caregiver. On Dec. 3, 1964 Jeanne and Ellis "Whitey" Upshaw were united in marriage in Davenport, Iowa. Jeanne loved going to bluegrass festivals with Whitey and to Silver Dollar City with her friends. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a member of the Church of the Living God in Ava. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, "Whitey" and granddaughter, Cheyene Rose Upshaw. She is survived by three children, Tamara Ahrens and Craig, Wilton, Iowa, Paul Upshaw, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Christina Cole and husband, Jeremiah, Holliday, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathy Serres and Kelley Romburg, both of Moline, Ill. As Jeanne's wishes, her body was donated to the University of Missouri, School of Medicine Gift of Body Program, Columbia, Mo. Memorial services for Jeanne were Sunday, June 8, at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Living God, Ava. Local arrangements were by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
