Orla Raymond Bricker

Orla Raymond Bricker, 88 years, 10 months, and 11 days old, passed to Heaven on March 27, 2016 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo.

Raymond was born May 16, 1927 in Goodhope, Mo., to Fred Orla and Anna (Morgan) Bricker.

Raymond was a life long resident of Douglas County. He was a graduate of Ava High School. Raymond was retired from working at Emerson Electric. He had worked there for over 11 years.

He was an Army/Air Force veteran and received the rank of staff sergeant. He served in World War II and Korea.

Raymond was a Christian and a member of The Life Church in Ava and also a member of the VFW Ava Post #5993. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, running his beagles, and visiting with friends at McDonald’s.

Raymond always looked on the bright side of things and showed kindness to everyone he met.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Tommy Bricker; one sister, Irene Richards; three half sisters, Gladys Smith, Vivian Henley and Evelyn Croan; nephew, Steven Bricker; niece, Paula Ryan; and great nephew, Christopher Petro.

Raymond is survived by one brother, Johnnie Bricker and Scharlene, Mineral Wells, Texas; sister-in-law, Betty Bricker, Ava, Mo.; Tammy Newsome, Mtn. Grove, Mo.; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Raymond will be Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 10 a.m., in the Clinkingbeard Chapel with military honors at the funeral home by Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Burial will be in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO at a later date.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to service time  in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor James Hathcock.  Memorials may be made to the Goodhope Cemetery.
