Dan Michael Stillings

Dan Michael Stillings, 58 years, 10 months, and 8 days old, passed to Heaven on March 26, 2016 at his home in Ava.

Dan was born May 18, 1957 in Mansfield, Mo., to Stanley and Norma (Rogers) Stillings.  In 1986 he married Jody Bohnstedt Babish and to this union a son, Alan Daniel Stillings, was born, and joined brothers, Frank and David Babish.

Dan was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. He graduated from Ava High School in 1975. He attended School of the Ozarks and later received a B.A. degree at Drury University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He worked at Ava Schools in maintenance, at Thompson Pontiac Cadillac, then as a mail carrier out of Seymour and also Posey Supply, all the while mowing for different cemeteries and yards around Ava.

He was a Christian and a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Ava where he was the music coordinator and treasurer. He enjoyed working on cars, playing guitar, tinkering in his workshop and working at his computer.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Stillings.

Dan is survived by his son, Alan Daniel Stillings; two stepsons, Frank and David; his former wife, Jody; his mother, Norma Stillings, all of Ava, Mo.; his sister, Debra Lynn Bohnstedt and Cliff, Springfield; two brothers, Thomas David Stillings and Joyce, Ozark, Mo., and Donald Wayne Stillings and Jodi, Anaheim, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Dan will be Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 31,  from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Sorensen. Memorials may be made to Neighbor Helping Neighbor, or Bethany Baptist Church Missions.
