Skyline R-2 Board Meets Feb. 17

The Skyline R-2 School Board met in regular session on Wednesday, Feb. 17, with all six members present. The consent agenda items consisting of board minutes, bills and financial statement were presented and approved.

In old business:   The board discussed the Tax Levy Forum that was held on Feb. 11.   One patron at the board meeting and forum raised a concern about the condition and ages of Skyline’s bus fleet.

In new business:   The board set the date for the 2016-2017 calendar hearing for the March 16  board meeting. Anyone with concerns about the calendar for next year is welcome to attend and discuss the dates.

The Board approved the purchase of the Chalkable Café  (lunch program) at an annual recurring fee of $300.   This program will tie in with the Student Information program.

The board voted to continue to be a member of the OSBA Health Insurance Consortium and to set the monthly Define Contribution Funding at $350 per employee.

The board was presented with three different Program Evaluations to review and approve:   School Climate; Preschool; and Library Media.

The board received two bids from banks for the schools funds. After careful review the board decided to accept the bid from First Home Bank.

In the Superintendent’s Report: Enrollment for January was 79 students, K-8, and 10 preschool students.   The board will be holding a second open forum regarding the proposed tax levy increase on March 24 at 7 p.m.   Anyone with questions, concerns or support is welcome to attend.   The tax levy increase and board member election will be held April 5. The next regular scheduled board meeting is March 16.
