Squires Man Dies In Ozark County Wreck

A 38-year-old Squires man died Monday night in a one-vehicle crash in Ozark County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Jason M. Shea, was traveling south on Ozark County FF, three miles west of Sycamore, when his vehicle went out of control and left the roadway.

The Patrol said Shea was driving a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan that ran off the right side of the road, struck several mailboxes and overturned, ejecting the driver. The wreck occurred at 7 p.m.

Shea was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:15 p.m. by Ozark County Coroner Shane Ledbetter. The report said Shea was not wearing a seatbelt.

Russell D. Evans, 43, of Aldridge, sought medical treatment on his own for minor injuries sustained in a wreck in Wright County on Monday afternoon, Jan. 25.

The Highway Patrol said Evans was a passenger in a 1994 Chrysler driven by Shawnya L. Matney, 40, of Ava, that ran off the road on a curve and hit a guard rail.

The wreck occurred at 4:55 p.m., one half mile north of Mansfield on Route EE.

Both occupants of the car were wearing seatbelts, the report said.

An Ava couple were involved in a wreck Sunday afternoon west of Ava that resulted in minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol reported that a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by James W. Degase, 75, ran off of Highway 14 two miles west of Ava, and struck several trees and a fence.

A passenger, Karen Degase, 74, was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield by private vehicle for treatment of minor injuries.

The occupants were wearing seatbelts, the Patrol said.
