Ava Community Visits Veterans For Christmas

Marilyn Alms and Sandra Walker of Daughters of the American Revolution suggested we, VFW Auxiliary Post 5993 and the Legion Hall Post 112, all come together alongside them and celebrate Christmas with our veterans.

We had a Christmas gatherings at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava Place and Red Bud with veterans and their families.

At Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center the pledge of allegiance was led by Danny Letsinger from Post 112. Roll call of our veterans was by VFW Commander, Scott Huffman from Post 5993, and certificates provided by Daughters of the American Revolution were presented to our veterans by Marilyn Alms. Auxiliary members, Robin Reinartz, Evelyn Egan, Mary Engle and Irene Cornelison and Daughters of the American Revolution members, Marilyn Alms, Sandra Walker, Sherry Beasley, Nina Carter and Doris Liniger gave out Christmas gifts, homemade cookies and candy. Our VSO, Melissa Moore, from Post 5993 came by to join us with our visit. Music was provided by Norma Stillings, Darlene Sorenson and Dan Stillings. We appreciate you all so much for a wonderful gift to our veterans and us. Nina Carter from Daughters of the American Revolution, Danny Letsinger from Legion Post 112 and Scott Huffman from VFW Post 5993 gave tribute and thanks to our veterans for their service to our country. We all sang Christmas songs and we served hot chocolate. At the end of our visit we all joined in a prayer given by Jerry Johnson from Legion Post 112. We appreciate all of Connie’s help at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare.

Our next visit was at Ava Place where Nicole Heick met us and we joined our veterans in another Christmas visit. Danny Letsinger led us in the pledge of allegiance and roll call of our veterans by VFW Commander Scott Huffman from Post 5993. Each of the veterans certificates were presented by Marilyn Alms, Nina Cater with Daughters of the American Revolution, Scott Huffman with VFW Auxiliary 5993, and Danny Letsinger gave tribute and thanks to our veterans for their service to our country.

We visited and had coffee. The Auxiliary and Daughters of the American Revolution gave out Christmas gifts, homemade cookies and candy. The veterans enjoyed the visit and at the end of our visit we all joined in prayer by Jerry Johnson from Legion Hall Post 112.

Our next visit was at Red Bud, where we had a visit with Ed Hall and Mr. Crain. They were given a Christmas gift each, homemade cookies and candy.
