Coupon Curiousity

Time, the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present and future regarded as a whole. Time, the most well used excuse as to why one does not coupon. An excuse I can understand and especially relate to after this week.

I was frantic just thinking about the five days ahead and for no other reason than the fear of not getting everything done in a timely manner, meeting my own deadlines, personally, and professionally, as the writer of this column. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a very structured person or because I like organization. This week added a little more excitement, as I helped with Vacation Bible School at the church I attend, during the hours I was suppose to be at work, causing me to change my routine just a little. Bye, bye routine, hello craziness! I started my mornings at VBS investing in the lives of others. Time well invested, might I add. Shortly after noon I would come to work, get settled and begin my day in what I would call a delayed state. My co-workers were great, helping when they could and my bosses were very understanding. I’d stay until five then go home to see and feed the family then back to work again. My hope was to stay ahead of schedule. Time was of the essence and I was merely the puppet being orchestrated by the master.

When it came to this article, I was at a loss for words. Unusual for me. More so due to fatigue than anything, but it got me to questioning myself and creating all kinds of excuses. Thoughts were flooding my mind….”it’s just an article about couponing, how much more can be said aside from what you’ve already discussed.” “I don’t have time to write an article this week,” and on and on…

Obviously with a few less words and a lot less experience in the sub topic of couponing, here is what I found to research and write about, with no experience on my part – coupon clipping services.

Here’s two ways to clip coupons quickly in order to save time.

  1. Google what you need. Type the name of the product or store and “printable coupon” into Google. Sites can be found that enable you to download and print coupons instantly.
  2. Sign up for a service that sends you exactly what you need – all for a small handling fee, but still saving money by using the coupon offered.

Try TheCouponClippers.com or TheCouponMaster.com.

Use a coupon clipping service. What is a coupon clipping service? It is an available avenue to receiving coupons. It allows you to get mutliples of the same coupon easily without the hassle and expense of buying several papers. They then mail the coupons to you within a few days. You do not pay for the coupons, but the service. To find such a service in your area, I recommend looking online. Here are a few tips on choosing one as well. Beware of the coupons they are offering and their expiration dates. Go with a coupon clipping service closest to you for faster shipping.

Reasons this could be accommodating for you: Not all areas have the same coupons and you are looking for the coupon with the best deal, through their business you are able to receive coupons for the same item, but with deeper discounts. The cost of ink to print coupons through your home printer is too high. There’s a limit on the amount of coupons one can print online, usually two copies of each coupon. You live in a small town that doesn’t accept printable coupons. You don’t have time to look through the paper and clip coupons.

Here’s how it works. Choose a coupon clipping service, then begin selecting recent coupons, laid out in shopping cart style. The coupons will have a few cents handling fee per coupon, depending on value. Most of these services require a minimum purchase. If you don’t want to deal with the per coupon cost or other fees, then a subscription is an option. One pays a flat fee for the service.

Hope this becomes useful knowledge to those who are interested and before I say That’s A Wrap for this week, here are a few items on sale at Town & Country Supermarket this week that have coupons circulating: Tide Simply Clean, Hamburger Helper, Chex Mix or Bugles, Pantene and Colgate.

If you have any questions, you can always contact me at mindy@douglascountyherald.com. I am more than willing to help you get started. If you have something to add to this column, great! We would love to hear from you as well!

The Douglas County Herald started a coupon exchange since we all know that everyone doesn’t use the same products. We will have a box up front with coupons in it. Feel free to look through and take any coupons that interest you and that you will use.

Until next time, keep calm and coupon on!
