Charlotte Linder

Charlotte Linder was born on March 3, 1942 to Elbert Martin and M. Blanche (Plummer) Swofford in Shell Knob, Mo. She moved with her family to Ava, Mo., in 1959. She attended high school at Cassville, Mo., and she worked at Ava Drug Store in Ava.

On June 14, 1959 she was united in marriage to Gerald Ray Linder. They were married for 52 years and lived in Smithville. In 1991 they moved to their home in Plattsburg.

Charlotte worked for Gospel Missionary Union, Smithville, for 12 years. She and her daughter Julie worked together in their company, C and J Cleaning Services, for 20 years before retiring.

Charlotte enjoyed flower gardening, line dancing and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed collecting antique dishes and spending time on the phone. For the last four years she and her sister, Shirley, had a hospital ministry calling themselves “The Traveling Sick Sisters.” They assisted family members while their loved ones were hospitalized. She was a member of Little Platte Baptist Church.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; brothers Randle, Dorsel, Bill and Denton Swofford; and four sisters, Helen Swofford, Dot Swofford, Lawanna Erwin, and Amanda Minick.

She is survived by her children, Gary Linder, Greg Linder, Marty Linder and Julie Brinker and husband, Todd; grandchildren, Heather Cooper and husband Brian, Shannon Davis and husband Jordan, Ashley Linder, Alexis Linder, Tara Russell and husband Chris, Steven Linder and wife Stacy, Clint Linder, Craig Linder, Carolyn Linder, Tonya Gilstrap and husband Ethan, and Tierney Martinez and husband Zach; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Carson Davis, Mason Dutcher, Gavin Russell and Kate Linder and expecting Grayson Gilstrap; sisters Mae Brock, Laura Allen and husband Lee, Shirley Leming and husband Don, Joyce Wilson and husband David, and Mitzi Jeffory and husband Tom; brothers, Rolla Swofford and wife Faye, and Lonnie Swofford and wife Charlotte; sister-in-law Barbara Swofford; brother-in-law Carl Minick; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with Pastor Jack Clemans officiating. Burial was in Smithville Memorial Cemetery, Smithville, Mo.
