Homemade Products To Help Save Money

Summer is finally here and the thermostat has no problem proving it either! Even though the heat causes some discomfort, what’s not to love about summer? Summer is a time to enjoy vacations, creeks, pool time, laughter, camping, sunshine and just being outdoors in general. I myself, love this time I have with my children who are extremely grateful for the extended break from school. It doesn’t matter what we are doing, it’s just nice to enjoy summer together.
Although I must say, it’s amazing to me how quickly life seems to change. When the kids were little, we spent most of the sunny season playing little league baseball at any baseball field and with any team that would allow them to play. It was a passion, it was a dream, it was recreational fun and it was hot! Not to mention, dirty, especially for little brother who decided that at the age of three and four, the dirt was more enticing than any catch, double play or big hit his brother’s could provide as entertainment.
Today, there’s no more traveling, no more baseball, but a whole lot of memories. Now when I need a baseball fix, I watch my nephew play T-ball or catch a glimpse of my son umpiring. He still gets to enjoy a game that he loves and so do I, just in a whole different way.
With all these memories, come laughter! I would go back at any given time just to enjoy it all over again…even the dirt and the completely grass stained uniforms that had to be washed quickly for the next game.
This brings me to the real reason of this article, to talk about the Homemade Product To Help Save Money. It has to do with memories, dirt and grass stained uniforms. I felt like this was as good of a time as any to share this recipe, especially, since many have kids or grandkids playing baseball during the hottest days of the year and they too, have a stain or two to remove.
Homemade Stain Remover
2/3 cups Dawn dishwashing liquid
2/3 cups ammonia
6 Tablespoons baking soda
2 cups warm water
Mix everything together and pour into a spray bottle. Make sure to give it a good shake before use each time.
Spray on stain and let soak for a few minutes. For tougher stains, rub the fabric together for a short time. Launder as usual.
I hope this helps others as well. Just don’t forget to take in all those memories before washing. As they say, time flies! One day you’ll wish you’d have another uniform to wash, trust me! Happy Summer to you all!
